Day 17

Another small exercise ... took a bit longer than I would like. The green/yellow colour was pretty difficult to get right for some reason - didn't expect that!

Pair of Pears, photo taken in an artificial light.

Day 16

Took a long time to come! Well, things got in the way, moving house, work... anyway, that's enough excuses. Now I am hoping to continue with this small exercise, probably not every day, but as often as I can :)
I converted my old heavy easel into something much lighter and this was my first experiment! Crab apples, jelly time! 18cm x 18cm.

Day 15

Today I was practicing a different technique on a different surface. I wanted to try canvas again, but not a rough linen one I used before but much smoother one. Here I was practicing few new ideas of how to paint sky and a tree. The canvas surface was still too absorbent so it was drying too quickly but I quite enjoyed the experiment anyway. Interesting painting blue sky on an orange under-painting!

Day 14

This one was definitely out of my comfort zone... the pattern was tricky!

Day 13

Done my sketching outside today! Love this place!

Day 12

The one and only reason for this quick sketch exercise was to recreate (from memory) the emotion I felt today on my walk. The feeling of light, green, neutral gray, orange-ish, peaceful, full of light landscape. Not trying to be precise in technique, just colour and emotion.

Day 10

Broccoli ... struggle, struggle... learning.... I will eat it tomorrow!

Day 9

Something a bit different this time, an orchid from my kitchen window :)

Day 8

Hmm... nail polish. Starting to run out of ideas already. I have to change the background next time, that pale blue is getting boring now.

Day 7

Ya, ya... I spent ages trying to decide what to paint and in the end  I painted... a bag of icing sugar. I've done better before I know, I know :)

Day 6

I didn't think this one was going to work out! Quite pleased :)

Day 5

Mmmm... not happy with this one at all. Was a real struggle, not an easy subject. Thinking it might have been easier if I tried to paint it realistically but that's not what I am aiming for. So yeah... lots to learn!

Day 4

Paint tubes..... mmm... think I did better yesterday but still... have to remind myself that this is all about learning and experimenting :)

Day 3

Just finished!

Day 2

Probably not simple enough for a quick painting... still, there it is...  a mandarine.

Day 1

Well hello! I did manage to do one small painting still today! And... it's a.... banana!
Not bad for a start but just shows I do need to improve. I am not doing this to "produce" but to learn :)

I will be painting all sorts of objects, mostly simple ones as these are supposed to be small quick paintings.

Banana, 23.5 x 10.5cm, oil on hardboard.

The Decision :)

Just came across the idea of painting small painting every day (or almost everyday) and really want to give it a go. I've been painting for some time now but doing this challenge might be a big learning experience, which is what I really need. I would love to connect with other artists doing similar thing, to be able to receive and give feedback and encourage each other.

I do actually have my own website but wanted to keep this as a separate project.

Well... time to get started.... :)

Just for the start, this is one of my recent paintings, not the daily one yet!
